Joanie!!!!

I miss you so much!!!! To be totally honest, the extent of your struggle surprises me just a little because you took it with so much stride!!! I had so much respect for you for returning to school with a very real challenge and just tackling it like that. In light of this, I really hope that I was supportive and wish that I exerted myself a little bit more in helping you out. I am so glad to hear that your confidence, laughter and smiles are on a rise and I can't wait to see some beautiful photos of you on facebook!!! Speaking of, I think you have some uploading to do!!!! How are your abroad apps going? Good luck with moving in!!!
Com muito amor, bejos e abracos,

I realized I didn't make this clear - this includes my lower lip as well. The feeling is returning very, very slowly. Right after the surgery, I couldn't feel them at all, it was like they weren't even there. I could drool or spill something while drinking and not even know it! At this point though, I definitely know if I spill something on my lower lip or chin, and I can feel hot and cold. I also get tingly sensations there sometimes (my surgeon says this is due to the nerves restoring their connections). But I am a long way from having sensation restored completely. I can't really be conclusive about it until about a year from now - if the feeling is not back by then, it's probably permanent. It varies for everyone though, and it depends on the kind of procedure you're getting. Discuss it with your surgeon - you may not have to worry about it at all!

Hi Miriemirie...Hope your recovering well...I too would like to get jaw surgery to correct my overbite and I'm really intrigued by your little blog because, not only are you a young black person (like myself), you also have a very similar facial profile to mine. I appreciate that every case is unique to the individual, but could you please post some after pics. I would really love to see how these types of cases are resolved after surgery.
Thanks

Cool recipes! Thanks for sharing. I just had jaw surgery 3 days ago and have been relying on my favorite soups. I'm sure I'll get pretty sick of them soon, and will love to try Akasan breakfast shake. It sounds so good, but kinda difficult if I can't find Akasan powder!

A huge, millenial congratulations to all of us on Obama's victory. We did it!

My blog is at http://susanfsu.wordpress.com - I'll be checking back to see your before / after photos!

I recently had orthognathic surgery as well and I am writing an article about the reasons and processes behind it. If you would be willing to let me ask you a couple of questions, that would be wonderful! (I am currently in day 5 of recovery).
